Set 2 - Rep 1 with Justin Marcus

Episode Summary:

Exercise is important but just as important is to be properly educated in doing the right exercise to maximize effectiveness and reduce the risk of injury. A personal trainer can educate you on all aspects of health, fitness, and exercise, maximizing results while minimizing wasted time. But at this time of the pandemic, it can be a challenge to meet different trainers to find which one is the best fit for you.

In this episode, we are excited to host Justin Marcus, the Founder of Webhead Fitness. Justin shares how his company is helping clients and trainers match through a mobile platform, so individuals can take care of their health wherever they are. We also cover the effect of the pandemic in Marcus’ football career and business, how he maintains good health and help clients on their fitness journey, the meaning behind the name of the company, and more.

Because health refers to more than just the physical aspect, Webhead Fitness also offers motivational speaking, yoga, and meditation. Justin also talked about goal setting and how to achieve your goals. He emphasized the importance of commitment and dedication in whatever you may be pursuing.

Justin shares plenty of thoughts and insights, so tune in to and be inspired!

M-T:
What's going on, everybody! This is your boy Brother MT, and we're here with another Metric Mate Minute Podcast. On the Metric Mate Minute Podcast, we cover leaders from all over the world telling you about how they do what they do, why they do what they do, and how staying fit keeps them in their best mindset. Let's go.

M-T:
All right, everybody. Welcome to another episode of your Metric Mate Minute Podcast. This your boy Brother MT, and I'm here with my guy, Justin Marcus, my esteemed guest. Webhead Fitness is popping off the map. Brother, tell The community a little bit about yourself.

Justin Marcus:
Like you said, man, my name is Justin Marcus, risen from Macon, Georgia. Currently, professional football player who put together this mobile fitness site called Webhead Fitness, where clients find trainers no matter where they live, it doesn't matter the location.

M-T:
Awesome man. That's dope. That's dope man. Definitely changing the way the fitness game is done and trying to bring some of this technology into this fitness arena that's been around for ages. For as long as human beings have been on the planet, we've been trying to make sure that we stay in good physical condition and take care of ourselves. So to be able to bring some technology into that man, all about what you're talking about. So as you know, we're going through this pandemic. You know, everybody's got the virus going around trying to make sure that we stay healthy and aware of what's happening. How is the pandemic affecting you or your business and what you got going on between arena football and Webhead?

Justin Marcus:
Definitely affecting us with arena football. Right now, we are supposed to be in season going on week five, or so due to the coronavirus we cannot have games, but luckily we got some good news. Just a couple of days ago saying that we may start as late as possibly June 13. So definitely hopes on that. Definitely hope for that. As far as the business, it really didn't undercut as much. It pretty much allowed us to do more with reaching out to friends and clients and also creating more at home quarantine workout videos on YouTube channel for people to view and actually do to stay in a good deal.

M-T:
Good deal. So you've been able to pivot into the online group fitness type situation and allow you to still be able to maintain your clients and keep them on their fitness journey?

Justin Marcus:
Absolutely. And more so reaching out to the trainers because they're not stuck to the normal day to day routine of working, we were able to get a quick response from a little reach out to them. They would on a normal day to day basis, they're more so free because you got quarantine, you don't have much to do.

M-T:
That's a real man. That's real. That's the way to keep people still engaged, man. And I know they definitely appreciate you being able to keep them in the ball game even though they're out of it right now. It's definitely exciting. I know there's a lot of people out there that's like, man, I'm missing my sport. So excited to hear from somebody that's actually in the game. And the games might be coming back sometime soon. How's that feel?

M-T:
It feels great man because I love all eyes on me. And so it's bad news. What happened was the fans not coming back. But now they are pitching for people to watch us in the arena. And for those who don't know about the arena, it's time to find out.

M-T:
Love it, man. Good stuff, man. Good stuff. So I know we've talked a little bit about Webhead Fitness. Go ahead and give the audience a little bit about what is Webhead and how it's going to change the game as far as how we interact with fitness and personal trainer.

Justin Marcus:
So Webhead Fitness has a double meaning. We're going to explain it in two parts. Web which is what I've been pretty much saying a lot and be repetitive about, that's how we would like to reach out to our clients and our trainers. It is through the Web because these days you can do everything on social media, whatever you need, whatever you can find, you find it right there on the Internet. So that's how we reach out to our community and bring together the family. Then you have Head. Head symbolizes the percentage of what you use in the gym to train, and that is a different percentage when we actually execute on the field. So what we try to concentrate on, that's why we have our additional services with motivational speaking, yoga, and meditation is to help that person, that client, that player, that percentage in a gym where your training is like the high nineties. But we could feel it drops because you're out there with different people and you perform, you want to do great. So we try to make sure that that same percentage converts over onto the field or to the basketball court or wherever you are just in the gym,

M-T:
Love it, man. That's dope. To see how that'll be able to help a lot of athletes to be able to take your game to another level as well. We see a whole different performance out of a man, and that's what we're about. That's what we love. So how has fitness allowed you to be able to stay on track during all of these changes? Man, because a lot of people get out of their head and out of sorts as far as being able to make sure that they progress and see the landscape of what's going on so they can adapt effectively. How has being in a fitness routine and making sure that you maintain your fitness helped you keep your head clear and continue to be positive and progress.

Justin Marcus:
It was just pretty much just that by maintaining and being with the changes going on if you've already committed to one thing which is training, which is saying I'll work out this day every day and I'm not going to sit. That's already keeping you focused while everything else is going on outside, you know, so it pretty much easy. I'm sorry. All you have to do is have the dedication and stick to the one thing, so any adversity that you may face, won't affect what you already have planned as a goal to achieve.

M-T:
True, true. Got to keep those goals clear, man, and keep those feet one foot in front of the other. One of my uncles used to say, run the miles man. You get tired, you start getting tired, bro put one foot in front of the other.

Justin Marcus:
But it's because people make crap up easily, probably in drinking water that night and they go into town and farm on the day. So it's always a reason for each cause and effect. You can always be the way around. Nothing is impossible when it comes to working out.

M-T:
Make sure you drink your water. You heard from the man himself. Get that back cramp, and you need to hydrate.

Justin Marcus:
The problem is man, H2O all in the night.

M-T:
So being a small business owner myself and working through the progress of being able to make sure you have a strategic plan for the future, you always want to think out at least a year, five years, 8 years ahead to make sure that you continue to move towards your goal now with this coronavirus popping up and everybody being kind of stranded. How has this affected your one year and your five-year plan where you saw where we're going?

Justin Marcus:
Well, as far as for the I think it's five years, our only two goals were to, one, create the first training facility here in Macon, Georgia, where we are originally from, for athletes to really work on their skills to go to the next level coming out of high school. So they also learned. And the second one was to beat the statistics of people saying that businesses take five years before they become successful. So that's pretty much our only two goals. Corona is not affecting either and I'm glad for that. And we're going to stick to it. And that's why I feel so great about my company whenever I speak to somebody because it's Corona isn't even affecting what we have going on and pretty much nothing can. So why not join? Why not be a part of what we have going on, you know?

M-T:
Yeah, man, it definitely speaks towards you or your brother's mindset as far as being able to pivot, man, because everybody can't make that turn around the corner to be able to continue to accelerate through the straightaway. But it looks like you guys are smooth, accelerated through the forty. And we are trying to give it like a 240 run man, keep your head down the first one of yours. So the first one is yours, like you said, those first five years. Then that's when you come up and start to open up. And that's as you can see, it will continue to elevate. So to up to 240.

M-T:
Yeah, 100 percent. 100 percent. And so we see that things are still moving forward as far as the turn and being able to get people into athletics. But we know some things will change. What do you see as a big thing that will change post-pandemic or the sports landscape?

Justin Marcus:
Oh, I mean, I'm not sure being that football, the NFL doesn't come around until mid-fall, beginning the fall is pretty much a winner. I believe that the pandemic will be over to where they will start things back up. Even though Governor Kemp just made this statement of just twenty-four pages, twenty-seven this month of everything reopening, not saying that people should jump back out there and do it.

M-T:
True man. And that keep working thing is real man, especially being away from your trainers, being away from your strength coach, and all that stuff. Which is a big reason why Metric Mate may even come into play. We want to give people the opportunity to be able to maintain their fitness routine and reach their fitness peak, even though they can't get in contact with the people that they're used to being motivated by the way they used to be in the trenches with you could still get that same motivation. You can still get that same connection and have that same accountability. Even if you're in Abu Dhabi and there in China, you know, people want to be able to it's just like where did you of the Internet using the Web that we created, the network that's been created for us to invest our lives.

M-T:

Pretty much the same thing with us. Any training that you're used to. We could have a nice training for you depending on your location. Even now with this pandemic, these training are pretty much online services, you know, so there's no way around it. Like I said, we have our YouTube videos and what we've been doing for quarantine. We've been having YouTube workout videos. So you just go to that channel. You all need no equipment needed, just yourself and your body weight and your work ethic, which is all mental and you can get a workout in. It's really focused on hitting calisthenics. So you burn a lot of calories. You tone up. There's definitely a suggestion for any type of fitness goal you have. You can't go wrong because that's a full-body workout. And me, myself, I do it. I stream IT loud on my IG account every Friday at six p.m. So like I told you about dedication. For as everything is going, all I do is dedicate and commit to one day a week, Friday, 6:00 p.m. Everything that' going on, let it go. As that dedication, you commit to that. You do what you enjoy, you start loving it. You yourself, you start to add on more days, like a week. So, you know,

M-T:
