We had the good fortune of connecting with M-T Strickland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi M-T, what makes you happy? Why?
Building. Whether it be building a business, building a relationship, building Legos with students, or building on the success of those that have come before. To be building is the happy place.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Metric Mate is a data analytics company focused on fitness, athletic performance, and health care. We have developed the first portable, fully automated, accountability partner for strength training.

This journey would not have been possible without having an amazing team. Braxton and Ecleamus are 2 brilliant men who male being great look easy. It has not been easy at all, it easier because of these two guys. Our biggest advocate, Brittany McCalla has been a gem. Her experience and expertise has come through on numerous occasions. Our advisory board, a Grouo of people with diverse backgrounds that all believe in Metric Mate. Their guidance, their wisdom, their listening ears when things got tough, helped us keep up the good fight.
All that to say, this path is not for the faint of heart, but for those that do decide to climb this tattered crystal stair, having a strong team around is invaluable.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This city is a cornucopia of amazing, dipped in chocolate, and adorned in gold teeth and a ball cap. Melodies of trap music should play whenever someone brings up this place. That is exactly the feeling I would want anyone I show around this city to leave with.
Being from Decatur, that is we’re we have to start. Go check out Ma-Dukes for the sweet tea and pound cake. Leave there and hit the Wing spot (you choose as long as it’s not wing/thigh stop). Lemon pepper dry with the house fried rice and the “red” drink of course.
Slide through Chit Chat or Libra for the night spot and end at Strokers.
Next day, blaze a trail out to the west side of things. Hit a Flying Biscuit or Broken Egg like the fancy folks. Hit the battery for a game and some Fox Bros. End the night at the Roxy
Next 2 days are for the south side. Hit a WNBA game, check out the Creek of Camp, definitely hit U-Bar (gotta see weave on a bull), and last but no least, see about a horse park or 2.
Friday – we go to Six Flags. Get there early, with the season pass, parking pass, and food vouchers from my guy for the low, ride rides and win prizes. End the night over at Trapeze because, you know…
Saturday’s the Day parties take over so we in the CITY!

Cafe Circa
Etc.
We hit them all.
Sunday is brunch day. If the drinks ain’t unlimited, we not going…
